Dear FC afficionados. I just want to tell you that FC 22 no. 32 in the future will sail from the danish waters, when/if the thick ice disapears. I have just been fortunate to buy this beautiful little Puffin, which is still situated on the hard in River Dart in the UK. I did however manage to visit her a month ago, just after I had bought her. She was not in the water, but I enjoyed her beauty and quality thoroughly. And in my opinion it is so with boats (and women) that if her behind is good, then she sails and behave well in most conditions. This one seems cute and strong.

Just to inform you of her faith and future

Welcome to the Forum! Congratulations on Puffin gaining you as her skipper!

My great grandfather, Anders Hansen of Bredbjerg (now almost absorbed into Odense city) who migrated to Australia to dig for gold, would be telling you that this year is not as nasty as the winter of 1863-64 and the 2. Slesvigske Krig when the Tyske crossed the frozen rivers and the Lille Bælt.

And Anders' great-great-great grandfather, Jørgen Nielsen af Nørre Højrup (Fyn) always reckoned the winter of 1708-09 was the coldest (and I think Jørgen was right!). My cousin Anni, who lives in Odense, says the history doesn't matter - Danmark is still jolly cold today!

Where will you be sailing Puffin? Do you have mast clearance under all the bridges both East and West of Aalborg? In other words, can you sail both to the Kattegat and to the North Sea?

and thanks for the welcome. Yes here is very cold due to the socalled manmade global warming. I believe it is the normal fluctuations in sun and other larger than manhood made scales on the climate. Here in the Limfjord my other boat, Aurore, a Joshua steel ketch, is fast in 50 centimeters ice.
Concerning the bridges around Aalborg, they will have to open up for the Puffin as well, but due to the low draft I will be able to go places, where others can not sail.
The Joshua however also has a low draft: 1,60 m and with her I have sailed more than 50000 NM from 81 N to 56 S, one crossing of the Atlantic with no engine and a roundtrip in the Pacific too. I am now getting older, 62, and need a smaller yacht of high seaworthiness, but same beauty. Therefore I choose the Falmouth Cutter Puffin, which will be sailed in the Limfjord, Baltic and Northsea. And maybe once more a trip around Spitzbergen, like I did in 1996 in the Aurore, as the first Dane and I believe I still is the only one. It is beautiful up there, like in the Patagonia, Chile.
